A love letter to the accidentally surreal, “Hackney Scars” (by Eddie Plex) is a collection of bizarre snapshots of reality taken between Hackney and Northern Italy.

All shot on iPhone over the last 3 years, the book was conceived with strict rules in mind: no staging, no retouching and just documenting what is happening in front of the camera lens.

“For as long as I can remember the bizarre has always found a way to ruin my day. I like to think of it as my very bohemian curse. Most days I don’t even need to look hard to catch glimpses of absurdity around me. They are literally everywhere. When Stories landed on Instagram, I took it as as an opportunity to document my anathema. 2,349 photos later, I have to admit it got a bit out of hand. This book is the result of me with an iPhone in my hand reacting to whatever absurdity is in front of me.”
